First Aid for dehydration

First Aid For Dehydration

Dehydration can occur for a number of reasons including excessive sweating and vomiting or diarrohea and can be dangerous as your body's supply of water is running low. Interesting fact about water content is that a human body contains approximately 1 pint of water for every kg of bodyweight (if my maths is correct).

Signs of symptoms of dehydration include:

feeling thirsty.
dark yellow and strong-smelling pee.
feeling dizzy or lightheaded.
feeling tired.
a dry mouth, lips and eyes.
peeing little, and fewer than 4 times a day

Dehydration can be treated with taking on water and also electrolyte drinks to help you replace the lost minerals vital to the normal functioning of the body.

If you are not urinating at all your urine is the colour of black coffee or coke this could be a sign of severe dehydration. This is a medical emergency and requires urgent firstaid treatment

Interestingly Overhydration And Hyponatremia are often more serious medical emergencies and some endurance athletes suffer the above because of fear of dehydration.
